Schluter-KERDI-DRAIN is a floor drain that connects to the KERDI waterproofing membrane or other waterproof membranes that can receive loads. KERDI-DRAIN has a wide flange, to which the KERDI waterproofing membrane adheres to form a watertight connection on top of the assembly to be tiled. The KERDI-DRAIN consists of a housing and a fully adjustable grate assembly or tileable plate. Grid assembly accommodates a variety of tile thicknesses; it can also be adjusted laterally and tilted. As the tiling plate is placed flush with the gluing flange, it can adapt to tiles of all thicknesses.
The standard KERDI-DRAIN drain connects directly to the waste line. The drain housing is made of ABS, PVC or stainless steel. Plastic drain housings have a bonding flange covered with a non-woven fabric. They are offered with standard 2" (50 mm) and 3" (75 mm) outlets, and connect to piping using appropriate glue. Stainless steel drain housings are available with a standard 2" (50 mm) and 3" (75 mm) collarless outlet and a 2" (50 mm) threaded outlet. The standard collarless outlet assembles to the pipe using an appropriate flexible or mechanical coupling. The threaded outlets assemble to the pipe using a sealant or tape. Since they allow simple connection to a standard outlet, the products KERDI-DRAIN are suitable for new constructions as well as renovation projects.
The KERDI-DRAIN adapter kit converts a traditional clamp ring drain to one with an integrated bonding flange. It features a stainless steel adapter ring with a rubber gasket and a variety of perforated holes compatible with common shower drains. The adapter ring replaces the clamp ring and attaches to the drain body using the latter's nuts. This connection is sealed using a rubber gasket and Schluter-KERDI-FIX sealant/adhesive. The integrated bonding flange fits into the rubber seal of the adapter, creating a watertight assembly. KERDI-DRAIN adapter kits, available in 5-1/4" (133 mm) and 7-1/2" (191 mm) diameters, convert the clamp ring of a conventional drain into a drain with an integrated bonding flange when it is difficult to replace a clamp ring drain (which would, for example, be caught in the concrete slab). The adapter kits are suitable for both mortar bed installations and those incorporating KERDI-SHOWER-T/-TS/-TT shower bases.
The KERDI-DRAIN grate assembly includes a frame, which will adjust to the thickness and arrangement of ceramic or natural stone tiles using height and lateral adjustment rings, and a grate or drain fitting cover that is inserted into the frame. The standard 4" (100 mm) grille assembly has approximately 1/8" (3 mm) of visible surface area when installed, and the grille frame assembly is available in stainless steel in raw, chrome, nickel, classic gold, antique gold, rose gold or oil rubbed bronze finishes, or in anodized aluminum in brushed nickel, brushed copper or brushed brass finishes. The 4" (100mm) STYLE Grille Assembly frame has minimal visible surface area after installation, and can be combined with three grille options: Floral (E), Curve (F) or Pure (G). STYLE Grilles are available in brushed stainless steel in Raw, Nickel, Classic Gold, Antique Gold and Rose Gold, as well as in a range of textured colored aluminum finishes, including Stone Grey, Cream, Greige, Bronze, Black matt and matt white. The 4" stainless steel tiling plate is covered with KERDI membrane intended to accommodate ceramic or natural stone tiles, which creates a virtually invisible drain. 6" (150mm) square or round stainless steel grate frame assemblies, which have a visible area of approximately 3/16" (5mm) when installed, can be combined with stainless steel grates or drain fitting covers. Note that the grate assemblies included with the KERDI-DRAIN plastic model with 3" (75 mm) outlet and the residential adapter kit only offer vertical and tilt adjustment (no lateral adjustment).
Maintenance: KERDI-DRAIN, KERDI-DRAIN-H, KERDI-LINE and SHOWERPROFILE-S/-R require no special care or maintenance and are resistant to mold and fungus. The grid can be removed to clean the drain or gutter and the evacuation pipe.
Clean the grilles and profiles using a neutral cleaning agent. Avoid strong acids (e.g. hydrochloric or hydrofluoric acid) and alkaline cleaners (e.g. bleach, ammonia, chlorine). Do not use abrasive cleaners or tools. Even stainless steel requires periodic cleaning to help preserve its appearance and reduce the risk of corrosion. Stainless steel surfaces become shinier when cleaned with chrome polish.
